▶About Today
Monday of Holy Week
“Here is my servant whom I uphold, my chosen one with whom I am pleased. Upon him I have put my spirit; he shall bring forth justice to the nations,” (Isaiah 42:1).[1]
Today’s Old Testament reading speaks of a chosen Savior, a servant with God’s spirit upon him. As one of four ‘Servant Songs,’ it foretells of a Lord who cares about justice on earth. He actively pursues a world where what ought to be is. As a sign that the kingdom of God is at hand, he will open the eyes of the blind, deliver those in darkness, and bring prisoners from their cells. To honor his plight, in earnestness we proclaim: “The Lord is my light and my salvation.” [2]
